Our awesome travel agent (JeanMarie/Travel Girls at Protravel in Sherman Oaks) did an amazing job of figuring out a very complex trip for us... with only a few days' notice in the middle of summer, no less!
Geneva - Guiyang - Guangzhou - Honolulu - Phoenix - Geneva
Believe it or not, some of you brave souls asked about our travel plan.
Here goes:
1. Arrive in Guiyang (via Frankfurt and Beijing) on Saturday night. Meet Hong Mei on Sunday or Monday!! We will stay there a week and officially adopt her.
2. Travel to Guangzhou for about a week to get her US Visa and register her with the US consulate.
3. Fly to Honolulu for a week (via Tokyo) to get her American passport, change her name, and immigrate her as a US citizen.
4. Fly to Phoenix to re-adopt her in the US (The Swiss government requires this step!). We will stay on in Phoenix for a while so she can get to know the family.
5. Back to Switzerland to start a new round of paperwork, probably in September!

Yes, and the next day is my name day. So big party in Phoenix if I am not in a coma.
