We turned our backs for just a moment, and Eleni had opened my computer, started playing Chinese music on iTunes, and had already accessed a foreign currency trading site. I don't know who she was talking to on my cellphone, but presumably she was giving instructions to her broker. Or maybe calling the Chinese adoption authority to give a progress report on her new set of parents.
